The selection of suitable grinding and polishing equipment depends on the number of samples that occur daily. Small quantities can be pre-ground very well by hand. Automatic pre-grinding is more economical for larger quantities. In order to achieve reproducible results, polishing should be carried out as automatically as possible. 

SCAN-DIA offers a sophisticated programme of grinding and polishing devices. The devices are specially designed for materialographic applications. They are solidly built and easy to operate. SCAN-DIA offers two series, SCANDIMATIC Series 33 for mounting carrier discs with a diameter of 200 mm and SCANDIMATIC Series 37 for mounting carrier discs with diameters of 250 mm and 300 mm respectively. The unique automatic pendulum holder is only suitable for automatic polishing and enables very economical polishing even with small sample volumes.
